Alejandro Pena of Keter Group Touts Emphasis on ESP and Sustainability

If you glance at the Keter company, they focus on procuring sustainably sourced products for the house and garden. With nearly 100 years of operation, Keter Group has expanded from its borders in Israel to more than 29 manufacturing facilities worldwide.

Led by the work of CEO Alejandro Pena, Keter Group has found itself quickly becoming an industry leader in sustainability thanks to its publication of ESG reports. Alejandro Pena said of their focus, “We are also going to live by the values of being good to the environment and our communities.”

The Keter Pledge Leads to Progress

Keter CEO Alejandro Pena understands that the world can’t be changed or saved overnight. That said, Pena continues to make moves with his company that create positive reactions.

Pena pointed to the Keter Everyday Sustainability Pledge to tout the effectiveness of his work thus far. Pena stated, “We made significant progress in taking carbon out of our manufacturing processes by maintaining our use of recycled resin and driving efficiencies throughout operations.”

The Keter Everday Pledge focuses on the sustainability and recyclability of all the products in the Keter catalog. According to the pledge, Keter aims to increase its use of recycled content in its products by 55% in 2025.

More than just improving tangible outcomes in communities throughout their operating areas, Keter Group has helped to uplift and motivate its workforce. Pena says, “I think the impact has been positive internally and externally.”

Understanding that they are working for an environmentally conscious company is one of the primary motivators for workers at Keter Group, at least according to Pena. Pena states, “To know that they are working for a company that cares is important to our employees and, externally, it has elevated our status with our largest, most important retailers.”

How Important Sustainability Is to Consumers

Even though ESG is a contentious topic among corporations, it is positive for Keter Group and its clients. Pena believes that making sustainability a paramount part of their work has helped to fuel sales while increasing Keter’s footprint in the public’s consciousness.

Pena says, “We will continue to see markets evolve where consumers are going to increasingly become more and more aware of what’s good for the environment and what’s good for the world we live in.”

Pena would add, “They (consumers) are going to demand companies be socially responsible, and we need to be at the forefront of this in our industry.”
